Who doesn't like something funny? Everyone wants a good laugh, and the guests of an anniversary are no different. It is actually very easy to make people laugh, as we all are amused by certain things. If you are good at finding out what these things are, and then putting them into a short message, then you will have tremendous success in getting a good laugh from the audience. Try to think of things that everyone can laugh at.
For example, if the couple is celebrating their 50th anniversary, then you could make a tasteful joke about their age. When I say tasteful, I mean not rude! Don't outright call the guests of honor old farts, just hint that they are! You could say something like “This is a celebration so is there going to be cake? Is there such thing as a cake big enough for 50 candles? ( audience giggles) Did someone turn the smoke alarm off so it doesn't go off when we blow out the candles!(audience erupts into laughter)”.. (as soon as laughter dies down you hit them with the sentimental, yet still funny part).. “ No seriously though, speaking of fire you guys have been married for so long, your marriage is a fire that only God could put out.. I hope to see you in 25 more years with the flame burning stronger than ever! Happy Anniversary!”..... This is a perfect example of a funny yet tasteful anniversary wish that could be used in context with the situation at hand. Use this formula combined with a little bit of creative thinking and you will have great anniversary wishes in no time!
